Sebagai sebuah pelan transformasi pembangunan strategik, Penang South Islands (PSI) akan membawa perubahan kepada selatan Pulau Pinang, dan menjadikan kawasan tersebut sebuah bandar raya pintar dan destinasi pelaburan serta pelancongan bertaraf dunia.
Dengan lokasi strategiknya yang berhampiran dengan Taman Perindustrian Bebas Bayan Lepas yang telah mewujudkan sebuah ekosistem yang mempunyai 300 syarikat multinasional dan 3,000 perusahaan kecil dan sederhana (SME) serta infrastruktur yang baik; PSI akan menarik pelabur baru dan mengekalkan pelabur sedia ada yang ingin mengembangkan operasi mereka di sebuah lokasi yang mempunyai persekitaran yang sesuai untuk hidup dan bekerja.

GEORGE TOWN: Works on the first project under the state's highly ambitious Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) — the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway - Air Itam bypass — have started and achieved eight per cent progress.
The 6km bypass, to be built at a cost of RM851 million, is expected to be completed in 2025.
