Incorporated on 9 July 2020, Penang Infrastructure Corporation Sdn Bhd (PIC) is the special purpose vehicle set up by the Penang Government to spearhead the implementation of the Penang South Island (PSI) development and the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP).
To ensure Penang’s development as a leading state, PIC’s vision is to build resilient developments and transport infrastructure, namely PSI’s Silicon Island and PTMP components that are currently underway – the Pan Island Link 2A highway and the Ayer Itam – Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway Bypass (Package 2).
PIC board members are the Rt. Hon. Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Chief Minister I YB Dato’ Dr Mohamad Bin Abdul Hamid, State Secretary YB Dato’ Hj. Rosli Bin Isa, State Infrastructure, Transport and Digital Committee chairman YB Zairil Khir Johari, Pulau Tikus assemblyman YB Joshua Woo, PIC Chief Executive Officer Dato Seri Hj. Farizan bin Darus, Umno Supreme Council member and Bukit Bendera division chief Datuk Seri Hj. Ahmad bin Ismail, and Byggmax Sdn Bhd director Tuan Mohd Saifullah bin Abdul Nasir.
Silicon Island’s reclamation is now being implemented by project developer Silicon Island Development Sdn Bhd. PIC’s
subsidiary, PIC PD Sdn Bhd holds a 30% ownership of the company while SRS PD Sdn Bhd owns 70%.
Helming PIC operations as Chief Executive Officer is former State Secretary Dato’ Seri Farizan Bin Darus, who brings with him 36 years of experience in the civil service.
PIC’s vision is to build resilient development and transport infrastructure to position Penang as a leading state through PTMP components that include the Bayan Lepas Rail Line, Pan Island Links, Penang Major Roads and Third Link, and the reclamation of the Penang South Islands (PSI).
