Assistant Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineer

 

(A) KEY RESULT AREA (KRA)

  • Assist in supervising construction projects through inspection of drawings and designs.
  • Support the management of project schedules, resources, and cost estimates.
  • Allocate and manage resources at project sites as per instructions.
  • TEnsure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

 

(B) MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist in the planning and design stages of construction projects.
  • Provide technical support for project drawings and designs.
  • Perform cost calculations and prepare financial projections under guidance.
  • Collaborate with the project manager in preparing work schedules.
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring construction engineering processes.
  • Conduct routine tests on materials and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Support efforts to ensure project completion within time and budget.
  • Maintain documentation of processes and detailed construction logs.
  • Prepare progress updates for clients and the senior management team.

 

(C) COMPETENCIES (TECHNICAL)

  • Basic proficiency in construction management software.
  • Foundational knowledge of industry regulations.
  • Strong teamwork and ability to follow instructions.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Good communication, time management, and organizational skills.

 

(D) QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS)

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Preferably with certification from a recognized professional body (e.g., IEM/BEM).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
